All's Well That Ends Well...

Yahoo! We are finally home! We had a great time in Boston, and I am definitely going to do another post about that, but I will first explain the ordeal to get home before I forget the details. Well, my itinerary was to leave Boston airport at 7:50 AM (eastern), land in Denver, CO at 10:30 AM (mountain). Here is the tricky part, my flight from Denver left at 11:36 so I didn't have much of a layover and would have to hurry over to board. Well, my flight from Boston boarded on time, but some of the people didn't understand what it meant when the stewardess said "If someone is behind you, scoot in and let them pass so we can close the doors on time." We left Boston 30minutes behind schedule and hit some headwinds so we did not land until 11:26. Once again, the people must have had hearing problems because the stewardess came on the intercom saying, "we have a lot of connector flights coming from this plane, so if you don't have a connecting flight coming up, please stay seated and let those who do get off." I was at a stand still to get off the plane for 10 minutes and by the time I got my stroller I had the guy at the gate call over to my next flight and tell me that it had already left. So I continued to go to the United customer service desk to see what my options were and after waiting in line for 40 minutes with a few tears from all of us girls I find out that they booked me on a flight leaving Denver at 9:30 PM. . yeah right. I continued to explain that my youngest was sick (true) and has had a high fever for the last few days (true) so I needed to get her home as soon as possible. So he said he would put that in a note and have me on "priority stand by" for their 2:40 flight. Was that supposed to make me feel better? Just the words "stand by" kind of brought a new stress of their own. So I call Dan very upset and I guess his dad explained that I could insist on getting me on another airline for me to get home earlier. I was not wanting to wait in line any longer and knew that if I had to use any emotion I would start to bawl (which would not be good for Bailee to see). So my wonderful husband spent a long time on the phone and arranged for me to get on a Delta flight for 3:40 in case my stand by didn't work out and we got a $200 voucher for our next flight. So now I take the train over to Delta to check in with them and they tell me I can't until they for sure know that I don't get on the stand by flight. So we go back on the train to United and eat some lunch and walk around looking for the gate that our stand by takes off at. 5 minutes after we get there they announce that it has been delayed for 3:50. So we go back over to Delta and cancel the stand by ticket so can leave at 3:40 for sure. Well as soon as we sit down, I realize that Bailee doesn't have her Dora backpack anymore. She said that she left it at McDonalds. We get back on the train, go to the United terminal, go to information and see her backpack right there. phew! Back on the train - oh yeah here's another funny story. The train came and we waited for all the people to get off and as soon as they were off, the doors started to close so guy jumped through them and barely made it, but the doors opened again, so I had Bailee go through and started pushing the stroller through when the doors started to close on the stroller. So I'm thinking they are like elevator doors that will just open if I give them a push.. oh no. They kept trying to close on us and like 5 guys on the train jumped up and pulled us through. Well I have made this post long enough. We got on our flight at 3:40, the girls slept the entire way home and we landed at 5:30. We are so happy to be home and so happy for the opportunity we had to be away as well. I will do a post about the actual trip maybe tomorrow when I can do more pictures.
